Now available – Horchata Valenciana and Valdeon Blue Cheeses

by Jonathan on 29/06/2009

Just a quick note to let you know that The Tapas Lunch Company have a couple of new products for the summer season.

We are very pleased to announce that we are now stocking the much requested ‘Horchata Valenciana’. This refreshing drink made from ground tigernut has previously been unavailable in the UK so we are very pleased to be working with the Spanish market leader to bring you ‘Horchata Chufi’. Grab a bottle, serve over ice and enjoy.

We are also expanding our range of the famous Valdeon blue cheeses to offer 500 g and 2 Kg wheels in addition to the popular spreadable variety already available in glass jars.

although i have never been there i enjoy its cuisine having been a 2nd chef.the head chef was pedro mas-molinedo and taught me much on spanish cooking.his mother had a restaraunt in barcelona i was also friends with Los zafiros spanish group.through pedro- theres no other cheese can match picon blue
you can use it with almost anything that you cant do with ordinary cheese. i know with danish blue cheese it made with copper wire running through it.i think picon blue must be the same.many sincere thanks for my order and will order again before christmas.

If you like picon blue – peel banana, make slit in centre, put in picon blue, make a batter using self raising flour, use two cocktail sticks to put in very hot fat till batter is brown take out leave to cool. You cant do it with any other cheese!
[its a banana fritter ] two slices apple with picon blue hold together broken pieces of coctail sticks batter very hot fat till brown take out to cool remove the sticks very nice snack dont use a basket in fryer .just lower them in

during our war years 1939-45 food was very hard to come by our parents had ration books and we children had a special treat once a week my mother would cut out two pieces of bread about 2 inch square butter each piece spread with jam then put in batter and fryin pan you can do the same with spreadable picon blue from jar for bananas cut off ends and in middle
make a slit in both pieces add picon roll in s/r flour then put in batter and deep fry till brown .use 4 apples core the centre put in cheese put back in the core you took out and put in steamer till cooked. with the bananas for children cut in half and slot smarties in again roll in s/r flour batter and deep fry take out leave to cool
